Day 45" Piledriver Waltz"~ Alex Turner/Arctic Monkeys

The reason for the artist confusion is because I have seen listed as an Arctic Monkey's song and a song by Alex Turner (the lead singer) as a solo. In the film Submarine Alex Turner did all the music for it, this song played at the very end. The lead girl Jordana wears the red coat throughout most of the film. Most of the people in this film don't wear red so this coat made her stand out throughout the entire film. The lead boy Oliver wore a coat for most of the film too, but the color didn't stand out as much as Jordana's coat because others wore similar colors. I think the choice of the red coat was to make Jordana stand out to the audience like how Jordana stood out in Oliver's eyes. Getting a bit off track now... you should watch this film (I'm pretty sure it is on Netflix)

Here is the picture I based this off of:

The song:

Day 44 "Skyfall"~ Adele

Welp
I was watching the new James Bond movie Skyfall and I really enjoyed it to the point where I wanted to draw it so I used Adele's song for the movie (which is great by the way, I'm glad the radio doesn't play it/play it out). It was one of those drawings that looked better as a sketch and when you went over it in pen it looked like fecal matter.
the song:

the lyrics are if you can't read it (yes I copied and pasted it what do you want from my life):
"For this is the end
I've drowned and dreamt this moment
So overdue I owe them
Swept away, I'm stolen

Let the sky fall

When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together

Let the sky fall

When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall
That skyfall"

Day 43 "Anti The ∞ Holic"~ Vocaloids Rin Kagamine and Luka Megurine

I KNOW IT IS IN JAPANESE BUT STILL READ/LISTEN PLEASE!
Anti the Infinite Holic is a song done by vocaloids. If you have no idea what a vocaloid is a singing voice synthesizer the user would buy a vocaloid with a certain voice, each voice has their own character design and name. The user would then choose the melody and lyric and would make songs using the voices they have. Although it was started by an English company it really took off in Japan. The girl with the yellow hair is the vocaloid Rin Kagamine, if you buy her you get her twin brother's voice Len Kagamine. The Pink haired lady is Luka Megurine. I used to be into vocaloid a lot more in middle school but this song in particular I still listen to. Because they are computer programs you can make them sing at amazing speeds and vocal ranges, this song really shows that.
The lyrics in English are:
"Those who have and those who don't
will one day both arrive at the end of the road
Dead ends standing still,
depending on their paths,
they'll commit a folly known as autonomy"

Please don't let the Japanese turn you off. Listen:

Fun fact: I'm kind of teaching myself Japanese (with Rosetta Stone)

Day 43 "Climbing Up the Walls"~ Radiohead

Sorry the quality of the photo isn't great today (or any day for that matter).

I originally wasn't going to collage the lock but I had an AP English assignment where I had to make a collage about gender roles using a quote from Henrik Ibsen's play A Doll's House. I had all the magazines out so I thought "Why not?"

Day 41 "Don't Worry We'll Always Be Watching"~ Gotye

aaaa
This didn't come out the way I had hoped. I got new ink and nibs and it turns out this sketchbook doesn't appreciate ink very much. What a bummer. When I finish this sketchbook I'll have to invest in a better one. I don't even know if you can see that it is a big black shadow with eyes and mouths.

When you hear "We'll always be watching" that sounds kind of creepy at first (like Santa Claus),  but this song is more of the "We are looking out for you. We will protect you." kind of way (to me at least, watching the music video may make you feel different). I feel this way about posters. Some people don't like posters because they think they are creepy and staring at you all the time, but I find it almost comforting. Somebody is always watching over me (I have way too many posters on my walls. Mostly band related.)

Day 40 "Hit Me Baby One More Time"~ Brittney Spears coverd by The Dresden Dolls and Brendon Urie

I CAN EXPLAIN. I WASN'T JUST JAMMING OUT TO BRITTNEY SPEARS I WAS LISTENING TO A GOOD COVER OF IT BY THE DRESDEN DOLLS AND BRENDON URIE OKAY?
HERE:

Day 39 "Andmoreagain"~ Love

I find this song relaxing.

The song:

Day 38 "Skid Row (Downtown)"~ Little Shop of Horrors cover by the Brobecks and Brendon Urie

This cover of Skid Row is sung by Dallon Weekes (lead singer of The Brobecks) and Brendon Urie (lead singer of Panic! at the Disco). Dallon sings the parts of Seymour, Chiffon, Crystal, and Ronette and Brendon Urie sings for Audrey and Bag Lady. I really hope to do Little Shop of Horrors one day.

Listen to Brendon Urie's amazing vocal range, and Dallon Weekes' awesome voice:

Day 36 "Where Eagles Dare"~ Misfits

I want to jump around and start a riot when I hear this song. I AIN'T NO GO DAMN SON OF A BITCH

YOU BETTER THINK ABOUT IT, BABY!

So much energy.

The song:

Day 35 "Loverboy"~ You Me At Six

You Me At Sixxxxxx. Sorry for the unnecessary amount of 'x's I'm excited because I got tickets to seem them again in April. I got to see them and I got to meet them at the 2012 Warped Tour. Fun stuff. I took this song and thought of it as a guy who did wrong and is interrogated in hell asking 'don't you feel bad?'.
The music video makes the whole interrogation part:

Day 34 "The Reeling"~ Passion Pit

I thought it would be an interesting twist to have a guy pull his head off and have a bag there instead (I'm M. Night Shyamalan).

the song:

Day 33 "Bullet" ~Misfits

If it isn't smacking you in the face with obvious, it is about the JFK assassination.

The song:

Day 32 "Plain Gold Ring"~ Kimbra

Seeing Gotye with Kimbra in concert was too perfect. Both too talented for me to word correctly. This song I found really interesting live (I filmed this song too so I'll show you down below).

The Song:

When I saw her live (Seriously watch this perfect specimen):

Day 31 "Paranoid Android"~ Radiohead

I don't have too much to say about this. I like Radiohead. OK Computer is probably my favorite album by them (that or Kid A).

the song:

Day 30 "The Only Way"~ Gotye

Like the Brobecks, I love the variation of Gotye's music. This song reminds me of a nice time. It reminds me of the time I saw him at Terminal 5, and this was the first song he played. From all the praise I give every musician on this blog you may not 100% believe me but Gotye is one of the greatest live performers I have ever seen. He plays so many instruments at once while singing and in between songs the small chats are always charming and fun. When I saw him Kimbra opened for him (it was her first time playing New York ever) and she came on during Gotye's set for Somebody I Used to Know (this concert was before the song blew up in the states and was played everywhere). If you have the opportunity to see Gotye SEE HIM.

The song:

A video of the performance I saw when I saw him at terminal 5 (shaky but I took it):

Day 29 "File Code #1459"~ The Brobecks

I'm just gonna say it. The Brobecks are fantastic. I love them. Cool music, great lyrics. I like the variation of the songs; they don't all sound the same. The lead singer Dallon Weekes recently became an official member of Panic! at the Disco (he is the new bassist), but The Brobecks is the band he was in before that (he still plans to make music with the Brobecks, just not right now).

The two people here are inspired by one of my favorite movies Disco Pigs. The two main characters Pig and Runt refer to themselves as king and queen so I thought of them when I heard the word king. I'll probably draw more related to this movie later on in this 365, even have a day based on the song at the end of the movie  (sang by my favorite actor who plays pig... Cillian Murphy).

Here is a funny picture I took of Dallon Weekes at a concert I saw him at once:
Here is the song:

Day 28 "The End of the World"~ Jon Walker

Excuse me, for the the picture came out a bit blurry and the lighting in my room is rather poor.

This is a song by Jon Walker. He used to play bass in Panic! at the Disco and guitar in The Young Veins. After those two bands, he went solo. I love his solo work, I think it is really great. I got to see him play in this very small venue with about ten people. I was standing right in front of him. The stage was low and I was about two feet away from him the whole time. We talked a lot during and after the show, super nice guy, very funny. I think he liked Caitlin and I because all the other people where squealy fangirls that barely knew his music. I hope he'll come back to New York soon.
Here is a picture of Jon Walker and me:

Day 26"Don't Open Til' Doomsday"~ Misfits

Don't have too much to say about this one. I just really like Misfits. And this song. And dead things.
The Song:

Day 25 "Beach Bones" More Amor ft. Ryan Ross

I remember when this song came out and Caitlin and I freaked out because of Ryan Ross (he sings the chorus of this song). Ryan Ross used to be the guitarist and writer for Panic! at the Disco, and then vocals and guitar for The Young Veins. He hasn't made a lot of music recently so we thought this was a big deal.
The Song (Ryan Ross is in the music video too!):

Day 24 "Blue Jay Way"~ The Beatles

For somebody who has never touched an illegal substance I really like psychedelic rock. The old man is actually somebody I wrote in a play two years ago while looking into my mind. I was lost in my head and this man would play bongos and go "WaOOMP" over and over. Then to show me where I had to go he opened up his head and a sign came out like a tongue coming out of a mouth. He is some sort of spiritual guide.
the song:

Day 23"Desolation Row"~ Bob Dylan covered by My Chemical Romance

I just love this lyric for some reason. My Chemical Romance covered Bob Dylan's song Desolation Row for the Watchmen movie. I made Cinderella more punk here because in the music video it takes place at an 80s punk show. I love this music video a lot.
The song:

Day 22 "Tutto L'amore Che Ho"~ Jovanotti

I didn't get a great picture of this one. In Italian class we listen to Italian music when we annoy our teacher enough. One of the artist she shows us is Jovanotti. She showed us a few songs but then I looked him up on my own and came to this song.
In Italian it says:
"Le mera viglie in questo parte di universo
sembrano nate per incornicati il volto
e se per caso dentro al caos ti avessi perso
avrei avvertito un forte senso di irrisoluto"
Which in English means:
"The wonders in this part of the universe
seem born to frame our faces
and if you'd gotten lost in the chaos
I'd have a strong feeling of unresolved"

The song:

Day 22 "I Love It"~ Icona Pop

When I saw Marina & the Diamonds, this Swedish pop duo Icona Pop opened for her and they were great. They both had amazing voices and DJ'ed on stage, which I think is an amazing mix. They seem super nice, and very grateful to be on the stage.
The song:

If you like it look it up live, it is really cool watching them DJ and then run up to the mic to sing.

Day 21 "See it All"~ Dayplayer

When I began watching Freaks and Geeks, I did my usual wikipedia everybody and everything about this show. I came across John Francis Daley (who plays Sam Weir in the show) and I listened to his band, Dayplayer. I was not expect this out of him, good for him!
here is him on the show:
Here is him (on the TV now) in the music video for this song:
